| Reach Out and Read @ Children's
Medical Center
ROR is a national literacy
program in pediatric offices across the country. We at CMC are excited
about bringing this program to the Reading Capital of the World by late
Fall 2001.
The Program:
1. At each well-child
check-up pediatricians encourage parents to read aloud to their young children
and offer age-appropriate tips and encouragement.
2. Pediatricians give
every child between the ages of 6 months and 5 years a new, developmentally
appropriate children's book to take home and keep.
3. Volunteers in clinic
waiting rooms read aloud to children, showing parents and children the
pleasures and techniques of looking at books together.
Call CMC @391-3640 if
your business or organization is interested in contributing financially
to ROR or if you are interested in being a volunteer reader.
"It is a great thing to start life
with a small number of really good books which are your very own."
